Heniff Transportation Systems CEO Bob Heniff started the company in 1998 in his Chicago-area apartment with four owner-operators and five leased trailers. Heniff now boasts nearly 2,000 trucks, more than 5,000 trailers, and $600 million in annualized business.

Bob Heniff isn’t trying to form the biggest bulk transportation company on the continent. Rather, his goal is to be the industry’s best organization—with an exhaustive array of solutions, the greatest ability to assist partners and employees, and the firmest commitment to safe, consistent bulk services. But at this point, Heniff Transportation is well on its way to meeting both measures.

Newman Carriers hauls a variety of liquid chemicals to manufacturing plants and water treatment facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. From two terminals, the company fields 75 Freightliner New Cascadia and Kenworth tractors and 156 Tremcar, Polar, and Brenner tankers.

It was gratifying but hardly a surprise to Joseph Newman, president of Newman Carriers, that his company was named a finalist in the NTTC 2020 North American Safety Contest for operating with the fewest accidents per million miles in its mileage category.

Kim Beck Cropped At Conference

Kim Beck, vice president of benefits consulting at Cottingham & Butler, said 30 more liquid and dry bulk carriers participated in the 2021 Trucking Benchmark Driver Compensation & Benefits Survey than in the 2020 version, making this year’s tank and bulk-specific data more accurate and useful for tank truck-industry stakeholders.
